Trinity Ball 2008 Line up - Update

March 29th, 2008

So as the tickets go on sale on wednesday, you may be wondering who is actually playing the Ball this year?

As far as I’m aware, the line up goes something like this:

Mark Ronson, Vitalic, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Lightspeed Champion, Boys noize, the Metros, Kavinsky, Reprazent, the Mighty Stef, the Coronas, Something happens, the Whip, Jamie Scott, the Spikes, Crazy P and Royworld.

According to his myspace, Boys Noize is also playing a set in Spy after playing at the Ball so I’m guessing he’s playing relatively early…

    1. The only term I can describe the line up is lazy. It looks like whoever was coming up with the names and line up just really couldn’t be bothered. While the dance line up is credible it just seems like it was spewed out haphazardly.
Although I will be dancing like a rabbit in heat to Boys Noize. Their album was probably one of my faves of last year.

    2. You left out Palladium, not that they improve the line-up significantly…at least I’m getting in for free, I definitely wouldn’t pay the €75-80 it’s likely to cost.

    3. Whoever spent the year rumouring actual good bands needs a hardcore talking to, I’m well disappointed with this.

    4. boys noize is one dude conor ;)

    5. Underwhelming. Boo.

    6. In my 6 years as a student in Trinity this is by far the worst line-up I’ve seen. Very poor indeed

    7. if any of you have heard black rebel motorcycle club live you would have a different opinion!

    8. It could be worse, you could’ve been April Fooled into believing Modest Mouse were headlining by a particularly cruel person that made you persuade others to solicit themselves to you for your extra ticket.

It was almost as painful as Mark Ronson’s album, I swear.

    9. I’ve been hearing good things about Sam Sparro, the whip are good live and you left out Roni Size… It’s really pretty good on the dance music front and in fairness, most people get far too trashed to remember to go see half the bands they intended to on the night. Oh and there are only 300 tickets left by now so clearly not everybody’s disappointed with it…

    10. Oly, you’re right there. I like Sam Sparro. I’m also excited about The Whip. I think Mark Ronson will be hilarious. Mainly because I will pay good good money to see 30-odd blonde BESS girls doing their collective best Amy Winehouse impression along to ‘Valerie’.

    11. First of all, thanks Brendan for posting up my video from last year. That set by Alex Ridha will live long in my memory.

Secondly, I’m surprised that everyone is knocking back the lineup. Okay it may not be along the lines of last year which was in truth an incredible line-up across all genres of music. This one however in my opinion is promising. What people must remember here is that there will be further announcements made in the coming weeks. Don’t get carried away just yet.

Personally, I’m pleased to see Kavinsky’s name in there. It’s a big plus for anyone who wants to see a fun, energetic & memorable set. Lightspeed Champion will also be attracting my attention as those guys literally put their heart & soul into their performance. Roll on May 9th!

    12. No problem. Think I’ll just be staying in the dance tent all night…

    13. Literally the worst ball line up ever. Kavinsky is about the only thing to get even vaguely excited about, and even then only ironically.

    14. wtf? Vitalic,Boyz Noize and Kavinsky are all brilliant, while BRMC are almost worth the 75 euro alone. Granted, if you’re not into electro, you’re fairly fecked, and Mark Ronson is just plain bollocks but I think there is definitely enough there to keep people excited.
