Analogue Blogs…
September 12th, 2007Gareth has gotten the ball rolling on the Analogue Blog so I thought I’d try keep some sort of momentum going. I’m fairly new to the world of blogging but I thought I might as well give it a go and see what all the fuss is about. Hopefully I’ll rope a few more of Analogue’s writers into this and make it a little more exciting for everyone.

We’ll be sitting down on Saturday to piece together the first issue of the magazine. To be honest I’m really nervous about it! I originally started thinking about setting up a music magazine way back in February because I felt that publications in Trinity weren’t covering enough of what was going on in the music world. Of course there was always the odd interview and review in the two college papers, the University Record and Trinity News but always being the one to think big, I wanted more. For me, the main aim of Analogue is to give a voice to music lovers of my age group and act as a medium to introduce our readers to weird and exciting bands that they’ve never heard of.
What started out as a plan for a 36 page magazine is now shaping up to be a 72 pager. I never in my wildest dreams expected to get enough content to fill that many pages but the response that I’ve gotten from all the record labels and Pr people I’ve contacted has been phenomenal. Everyone has been so supportive and we’ve landed some deadly interviews. It’s amazing, all you have to do is ask nicely. I thought that because we are a student publication, people would approach us with an air of suspicion but thankfully that has not been the case!
It would have been nice if I had kept a blog all the way through the trials and tribulations of starting up the magazine from scratch but twas not to be, I had enough on my plate. I suppose this is only the beginning for Analogue but for me it seems like the end of a long journey. If I was Fionn Regan I would have made some reference to being on a boat in a harbour or building a wall with my bare hands but I’m not, so I won’t. Maybe that’s why I’m kind of nervous about how it’s all going to come together. I know we’ve got some really interesting content and hopefully a fresh approach. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out in the end. Fingers crossed…
