Porn On Vinyl is 17 year old Dubliner Aidan Wall, he records great lofi folk songs in his bedroom. Porn On Vinyl reminds me of both Elliott Smith and Neutral Milk Hotel. About 2 weeks ago, I invited him out to RTE to record a live session for The Analogue Hour. It went swimmingly, I haven’t heard the final mix of it yet but it sounded deadly in the studio at the time. It’s slightly less lofi than before, you can blame that on RTE’s semi analogue semi digital supercomputer sound desk. That will go out sometime mid January, I’ll post a reminder about it closer to the time.
Anyway, enjoy this free Christmas Ep and if you like what you hear download his latest full length for free, it’s called ‘I spent the night thinking with short periods of sleep interrupted by visions‘ and I highly recommend it!

The Analogue Hour Show 1

During the summer, I sent a cheeky email to RTE asking could I have a show on their new digital alternative music station, 2XM. I was pretty surprised when two weeks later I got an email from none other than Mark ‘Maniac 2000′ McCabe saying I had a weekly show. At the moment, it’s an hour long but that could expand to two hours in the new year. The great thing about our show is that it’s not playlisted unlike many other radio stations, it’s brilliant I have complete freedom in what I pick to play. We recorded what we hope to be the first of many live 2XM sessions about two weeks ago. Porn On Vinyl recorded three really simple yet beautiful songs(think Elliot Smith meets Neutral Milk Hotel), they’ll be played on a show in the middle of January.
